Biography
Hello,
My name is Shem Fernando, I’m 14 years old and I hail from the beautiful island of Sri Lanka. My journey into sailing began at the age of 12, with my first competition being the prestigious Royal Thomian Regatta. Since then, I’ve actively participated in numerous sailing events held in Bolgoda Lake and open waters at Crow Island, Mirissa, and Trincomalee. Sailing isn’t just a hobby—it’s a deep-rooted passion that drives me every single day. My ultimate aspiration is to become one of the top sailors in the sport, and I am excited to share that I’ve been selected to represent Sri Lanka at the International Optimist Dinghy Association (IODA) Championship this year in Oman.
